Materials & Sustainability
Our Material Approach
At vaseboard®, longevity is key. We develop modular systems that can be expanded, combined, and adapted. We understand sustainability not as a trend, but as a constructive principle.
Products should last, not be replaced.
Additive Manufacturing: 3D Printing as a Resource-Saving Process
A central component of our production is additive manufacturing through 3D printing.
Unlike traditional manufacturing processes, 3D printing does not remove material but builds it up layer by layer. Only the component that is actually needed is created. Waste, milling scrap, or molds are eliminated.
This significantly reduces material loss and enables precise, demand-oriented production.
Through digital manufacturing, we can:
-
only produce what is actually ordered
-
avoid excess stock
-
efficiently implement small series
-
flexibly develop designs
This makes production more controlled, transparent, and adaptable than industrial mass production. We use many of these components in our modular oak wall shelves with vases.
Bio-based Plastic
For our 3D-printed elements, we use a bio-plastic based on renewable raw materials such as corn starch and lactic acid.
The material combines:
-
high dimensional stability
-
precise surface quality
-
matte, calm feel
-
good indoor longevity
In combination with additive manufacturing, this creates an efficient production process where material is used purposefully and waste is minimized. These 3D-printed elements are primarily used in our modular oak wall shelves with vases and complement the natural wood with functional details.
Solid Oak Wood
Our shelves are made of solid, FSC-certified oak wood. FSC certification stands for responsible forest management that adheres to ecological and social standards.
Oak is naturally durable, load-bearing, and timeless in its appearance. Its high density and stability make it particularly suitable for load-bearing constructions like shelving. If you're looking for simple shelves without a vase, you'll find more solid oak versions in our Oak Wall Shelf category.
The wood ages gracefully, develops a natural patina over time, and remains reliably usable for many years. Combined with precisely manufactured 3D-printed elements, floating oak wall shelves with vases are created that appear light and yet reliably support weight.
Modular Design Instead of Disposable Products
For us, sustainability primarily means: repairable, replaceable, and expandable.
Individual modules can be added or replaced without having to buy an entirely new system. This extends lifespan and reduces unnecessary resource consumption.
Modular design creates flexibility and prevents premature discarding. This can be particularly well implemented with our modular oak wall shelves with vases, which you can expand and combine as needed.
Conscious Production in Small Series
We produce in manageable quantities and respond flexibly to demand. Through digital manufacturing, we can produce according to need, instead of storing large quantities in advance.
This reduces overproduction and enables more responsible value creation.
Our Understanding of Sustainability
For us, sustainability begins with the material, continues in the design, and is reflected in the lifespan.
This includes our floating oak wall shelves with vases as well as simple oak wall shelves, which you can choose depending on the room situation. We pay attention to verifiable origin, certified standards, and a long lifespan when selecting materials.
When selecting materials, we pay attention to verifiable origin, certified standards, and a long service life.
